The Tithe Schedule holds all data in one table for each Tithe District. This is fine on paper, in a database, however, this approach has considerable drawbacks.
- Selection of data and analysis on different levels is inhibited.
- Data in fields of the schedule is not atomic.
- Columns are not identical in all schedules.
- Parishes are identified within tithe districts; analysis on parishes is inhibited
The process of arranging data in a relational database according to relational database theory is called 'normalisation'.
